Revival in Northeast India Continues, Despite Distractions

This morning I awakened early, finding myself praying earnestly that the Lord would pour out His Spirit on people here in the U.S. We are hosting a family campout this weekend, and my longing is to see the Holy Spirit move among us. I’m not desirous of any particular manifestation, but rather that Jesus would have His way among us, and that our families, congregations, communities, nation, and the entire world would be deeply stirred and brought to adore our Bridegroom. May Jesus derive the pleasure in us that He is worthy of.

After a time of seeking the Lord for such an outpouring of the Holy Spirit, I checked my e-mail, and found another report from Reuben Pradhan (http://torestoration.googlepages.com/) in India. The revival that has broken out there in recent days continues continues to spread and flourish, despite counterfeits. Dear Jonathan,

Yesterday some pastors and I, on our way to a meeting in Jowai (Jaintia Hills), were chatting about the revival here and a pastor of a large church here in town told us that yesterday itself during daytime one of his sons called him up from his school. The news was the same. Children were coming under the power of God and even Muslim kids were seeing clear visions of Jesus. One non-Christian girl was choking and couldn’t speak. She was holding on to her neck struggling to utter a word but she couldn’t. Some believers noticed an amulet on her neck and the moment they broke that off her neck she suddenly burst out and was able to speak once more.

There are many people walking around us who are actually demon-possessed, even if they look like any normal person. But it is when the mighty presence of God is manifested that these evil spirits becomes restless with fear and begin to manifest themselves through these people. They cannot hide anymore. They are revealed and that helps the believers to identify them and provide deliverance to the person possessed. Such incidents are also taking place in this revival–people, even so-called Christians, are being delivered from demonic possession. Now, I’ve yet to verify this, but people are saying that there have been a couple of incidents in which people walking on the road have suddenly collapsed–either being overpowered by God’s Spirit or experiencing deliverance.

The situation here has become so hyper-sensitive that people will run and throng to any place if they happen to see some unusual sightings or shapes with the conclusion that everything is part and parcel of this revival. Just yesterday in a Presbyterian chapel in Malki, just this side of the OM book stall, people were thronging to see the shape of a human that had appeared on the cross inside. A---- (you know him very well) also went in to check what it really was and told us (in this same journey to and from Jowai) that there was something like a shape of a human being on the cross, similar to Jesus hanging on the cross. The shape of the hands on both ends of the cross appeared to be like that of the wings of a dove, he said. The head looked like that of an infant. The legs were stretched down below. There was a prolonged traffic jammed on the highway with people lining up their vehicles to catch a glimpse of this strange shape. Unfortunately, people were kissing the foot of the cross. We were quite skeptical of the whole thing and yet not ready to pass any judgments. We really need to pray and need your prayers too that the enemy of the cross wouldn’t be able to deceive unbelievers and even the saints with counterfeit signs and wonders.

And yet, genuine revival seems to still be spreading further and wider. Local newspapers are reporting that even non-Christians and those among the Khasis and Jaintias who are animists are coming under the power of God. Many villages in Jaintia Hills are experiencing the outpouring of the Holy Spirit. Last Sunday, reported M----, R---’s son, who goes to another English-speaking church in Police Bazaar, their hall was jam-packed to overflowing with Hindus and other Non-Christian people attending the meeting without any invitations.

How I wish I could go to those people and children who have come under the grip of the power of God and actually interview them on a video. I’m wondering if those local news channel would pass on their recordings to us. Let’s see. But I’m envisioning writing the whole story right from the starting. Please pray that I hear God regarding this whole thing.

But I don’t know why I feel that this revival fire would spread from here westward this time. To the European and American continents. Maybe it’s just a wishful thinking. But oh! That this wish comes true.
