#139 - Helping Children Avoid Limiting God (October 2008 CPSI Presentation) Print E-mail

Psalm 78:41 says God’s people "limited the Holy One of Israel." To my mind it seems impossible that finite humans could possibly limit the infinite God, yet this passage tells that the Israelites not only "limited" Him, but that they "provoked Him" and "grieved Him" in the process. The introduction to this Psalm makes it clear that its purpose is to prod us to help our children "not be like their fathers" in the matters it will describe (our stubbornness, rebelliousness, and unfaithfulness.)

Perhaps before listening to the message, here are some questions to ponder (and even discuss with your family): How is it possible to "limit" God? What examples are found in the Bible of people limiting God? Are there ways we have limited God in our lives?

This message was presented & recorded by Jonathan Lindvall in Springville, California at the September 24, 2008 at the Chirstian Pilgrims Schools, International Orientation Meeting.
