#358 - The Value of Understanding (November 2008 CPSI Presentation)
Solomon urged his son (Prov. 4:5) to “Get wisdom! Get understanding!” Why is understanding so important? A few moments later he emphasized it even more. He said (Prov. 4:7), “Wisdom is the principal thing; Therefore get wisdom. And in all your getting, get understanding.” Why is understanding so valuable?
What is even more baffling is that shortly before this he admonished his son (Prov. 3:5) to “lean not on your own understanding.” This seems to be a contradiction to Solomon’s urging to “Get understanding!”
Prior to listening, here are some questions you might ponder and discuss: Are wisdom and understanding the same thing? What is understanding? Why is it so important? How can understanding be misused?
